Bell ringers Durweston, Durweston

Royal Wedding Peel rung at Durweston tower.

Pete Ellis from Hemel Hempstead and son of Mrs Ellis of Stourpaine brought a band to the Durweston tower on Monday 21 May to ring a peel  (3 hours non stop) to celebrate  the royal wedding. They executed the peel with great skill . It’s not uncommon for bands to ring quarter peels (45 mins approx.) but a full peel is rare. It was the first time Pete has rung at Durweston for 35 years. Pete Ellis is the son of George Ellis (vet) who died about 2 years ago. He and his wife, still living in Stourpaine, are well known.
